Welcome to my Spring newsletter, focusing on movement, health and well-being in midlife.

Happy Mother's Day if you are celebrating today and I hope you have spent quality time with your loved ones whatever your situation is. This can be a tough day for some and I completely empathise with you, having lost my Mother to cancer 34 years ago. She was only 52 so it's tough. But I have been fortunate to become a Mother and have a wonderful Mother in Law and Step Mother, so I'm truly grateful for that.
Classes & Holidays
So, March has been a busy and rewarding month. So many of you lovely clients attended regular Mat and Reformer Pilates classes, building on your core strength and staying flexible and pain free.
I launched my Beginner's Mat Pilates on Tuesday lunchtimes which has been really well attended and is growing from strength to strength. Just 45mins from 1 - 1.45pm at Stoke D'Abernon Hall.
My Restorative evening class is now being held at St Mary's Hall, Parkside School on Tuesday evenings at 6.15pm, so please pass on the info if you know a friend who can't attend a daytime class.
The morning and evening classes will break for 2 weeks over the Spring Break/Easter holidays, resuming on April 22nd/23rd. Please click here to book your place for the next 5 class course, running until May 20th/21st.
The Beginner's class will run throughout the holidays, so please book your place as usual; and if any one else would like to attend please come along.
Why is Strength Training so important in Midlife and does Pilates count?
Strength training is crucial in midlife to combat age-related muscle loss, maintain bone density, improve balance and enhance overall health. Decreasing levels of oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone (yes, it affects men too!) affects our body's ability to synthesise collagen and protein, which are required to stimulate muscle growth, repair and recovery.

Hence the need for a well balanced diet including protein, supplements where needed and exercise. I talk more about this in a moment, as we covered this topic in depth at our 'Move Nourish Thrive' workshop this month........
